What is Retargeting?

Ads. But these are ads that are only show to people who have already visited your website.

Someone visits your website and a cookie is added to their web browser. If they leave without buying; you show them ads. It’s that simple.

Retargeting is more relevant to your potential customers because they’ve already interacted with your website before.

Branding is more effective because each exposure to your brand increases trust which makes the more likely to think of your products when they need what you are selling.

Why shouldn’t I just use Google AdWords?

You could try to use traditional online advertising but there is no guarantee your former visitors will ever see those Ads. You could use social media or create blog posts and hope they come back. But none of this guarantees that you are exactly targeting customers that have already been to your website.

Traditional online advertising requires a lot of knowledge about copywriting, keywords, audiences, segmentation, how ad networks work, and the complete pain of learning new software. You are also expected to know how much you want to pay per click or pay per thousand ad impressions. There are literally dozens of different skills you need to know to get started with pay per click and pay per thousand advertising.

So what can you do to turn visitors into customers? How can you bring those folks back to your website?

Start Retargeting.

Retargeting ads are also much simpler to create, configure, and manage then traditional ads. There are no keywords, no per click or per impression costs to estimate. Usually you just set a budget of how much you want to spend a week. Only want to spend $100 to $500 a month? No problem. This is exactly why I want to help more small business get started with retargeting. You can run effective, profitable retargeting campaigns with very little money.

Once they’ve purchased, you can exclude visitors that make purchases or converted in some other way such as joining your mailing list. This type of online Ad is much more effect that traditional ads because they’ve been to your website and are much more likely to be interested in your products.

Industry best practices recommend that Ads have a similar look an feel as your website so you can lift existing copy and images from your website to create your first ads.
